Hello world! I am Alek the second partner of Crazy House Quilts, which is the business adventure my mother and I have decided to embark on together. I have been meaning to get on here and post so that my mother isn’t going it alone, but I seem to have so little time and she does such a good job of it on her own :D. Now it is saturday morning though, and I am vegetating on my couch with the TV on so what would be a better time than now?
So speaking of the time issue, between working full time, going to school, and trying to spend time with my friends and my boyfriend I have managed to have three unfinished quilts sitting in my third bedroom, all at different stages of life. I also have two more that I have planned, and have already picked out the fabrics and a tentative design. I have fabric on the way for a baby gift, and I also will soon need to start on the wedding quilt that my best friend requested for her wedding gift. BOY OH BOY! I get so jealous when I look at some of the quilting websites of the creative women who some how seem to manage to always have a beautiful new quilt, sometimes two or three!!, posted to their website. I tell myself that someday I will have that time though, so for right now I am prioritizing and doing a little bit at a time.
So I have to say that while I have all those unfinished quilts that I need to be working on, the projects that are the nearest and dearest to my heart are the baby gift quilt, and my best friends wedding quilt. The baby quilt I am super excited about because I love the fabrics that I have picked out for it. It was inspired by the Heather Bailey Pop Daisey in Rose print, which is what I am going to use for the backing, and then I have picked some Amy Butler, Alexander Henry, and some more Heather Bailey fabrics in golds, pinks, greens and reds for the front. Im really, really excited about it, especially since the fabric should be in the mail on its way to me, but as of yet I am not sure what I am going to do for design.
As for the wedding quilt I am stuck between two different designs that I have been contemplating. One of them was a wedding quilt that one of the ladies from http://www.purlbee.com, here, did for one of her friends as a wedding gift, and it was honestly this quilt that got me as interested as I have become in quilting. The other is called a bookcase pattern,
which I found on Urban Patchwork’s Blog. She was working on her blocks for Common Threads quilt bee, and I saw this design that the quilter of the month, Carissa, had picked out and I loved it. So, we will see what I end up deciding to do, but considering that I haven’t even managed to decide on fabric for that one yet I think I am safe to say that I have time to decide. Have a good day all!
